Golf
Just 15 minutes drive from Mountain Valley is Te Pohue golf course, one of New Zealand's great challenging 9-hole rural golf courses, with great views of the mountains and forests of the Kaweka Range. Men par 72, women par 74.
The terrain is undulating and easy walking. Greens are well watered and maintained, and visitors are always welcome.
The club house is open on club and tournament days with a snack and bar service. Changing and toilet facilities are available at the course.

Trellinoe Gardens, 20 minutes drive towards Napier from Mountain Valley, is a lovingly landscaped country garden complete with a cafe in the grounds.
The garden has many native plants, trees and ferns. Exotic plantings include big groupings of magnolias flowering in early spring followed by rhododendrons and azaleas.
Large trees, wide sweeps of lawn and water areas give a senses of peace and tranquility. Picnics are welcome!
The garden is open every day all year!
The owners welcome walkers and various interest groups. Within the 30 acres they can grow plants from many parts of the world - giving a wide and interesting botanical selection.
Autumn is beautiful with the wonderful colour of deciduous trees!
The cafe is open every day from September 1st to the end of May. Closed June, July and August. It can accommodate up to 50 people, and has a selection of fine crafts for sale, including lovely woodwork and paintings.
