Mountain Valley Conference & Development Centre
Mountain Valley is a wilderness retreat in a stunning rural setting. Set on the banks of the Mohaka river, roughly equidistant between Auckland and Wellington, it is just ten minutes off State Highway 5, 60kms from Napier and 90kms from Taupo. Primary access is by road, although we have regular visits by helicopter with large, flat LZ areas close to the river and accommodation.
Capacities
Our accommodation varies from bunkhouses to comfortable self contained cottages, with a maximum occupancy of 76 people. On a single occupancy basis we can accommodate 16 people, or 26 on a twin sharing basis. Central to the complex is a newly refurbished bar and restaurant area with a modern conference room including data, video and audio facilities. We can seat up to 120 people to dine, and accommodate up to 50 people in theatre configuration in the conference room.
Activities
Our thriving tourism operation during the summer months means that we have an ever increasing range of iconic adventure activities available for corporate groups. These are in-house owned and operated, and Qualmark accredited where appropriate. Please see our activities for more information on what we can offer.
Corporate Challenges
Our enviable location beside a wild and scenic river amongst the mountains of the Hawke's Bay hinterland provides a superb setting for all manner of corporate challenges. For annual conferences or larger group events, we will design and build a corporate challenge to address your specific requirements and aspirations. Our team has over 20 years of experience in this field, and major companies such as Shell, ANZ, Bayer Crop Science and the Property Group have all taken part in specially tailored challenges over the past two years. Team Challenges
Similar to our corporate challenges, we design and create team development challenges for smallor large teams. These may be for well established teams looking for higher performance, for new or newly reformed teams with a fresh challenge ahead, or for teams confronted with the pressures of change in this rapidly emerging global marketplace.
Leadership Challenges
We believe our leadership programmes our ground breaking and unique within New Zealand. Each of our programmes is made up of a series of leadership challenges, interspersed with theory, discussion and feedback. We have a portfolio of leadership tasks which have been developed and refined on the international consulting stage, and now reside with us at Mountain Valley.
Wining & Dining
We can cater fora seated group of up to 120 people, or up to 200 in a buffet style environment. Please note that these maximum numbers are based on day visits due to our maximum accommodation provision of 76 people. Our specialities arehearty, wholesome and home cooked set menus with classic Kiwi favourites such as barbeques, roast dinners with all the trimmings, delicious pavlovas for pud with home made pastries and soups as lighter alternatives. Our genuine 'bespoke' approach to our guests means that we are able to plan and prepare special menus for you, provided sufficient warning is given. Facilitation
Prior to his arrival in New Zealand in 2005, Clive spent ten years consulting internationally for some of the world's leading organisations. You can view his curriculum vitae in My Story. He is available both on or off site to support you in achieving your personal and business goals as a coach or consultant. Please contact us for more information.
Guest Speaking
Clive Barrow has spent much of his professional life facilitating and speaking to groups of all ages and background on the subjects of leadership and high performance. He is available as a guest speaker for visiting groups, or off site.
Conference Room
Our newly re-appointed conference room, conveniently situated between the bar and restaurant area,caters for the following numbers:
Board Room - 12
U-Shape with tables - 20
Horseshoe without tables - 25
V shape - 35
Theatre - 50
We hire the conference room at a half or full day rate, which includes flipcharts and stationery, use of our data projector and screen, dvd and remote audio facility, remote mouse and laser pointer, iced water and mints on tables. Just bring your laptop and you are ready to go.
Break Outs
If you opt to use the centre on an exclusive basis, you will have access to the bar and restaurant area, decks, and up to eight breakout rooms using our existing accommodation. Our preference, however, is to make the most of the fabulous outdoor setting and enable people to walk and talk, or use the sturdy tables on the decks around the property for small group discussion.
