Mountain Valley is a hidden gateway to the landscapes and legends of the Mohaka Valley; a magical rural retreat set on the banks of the Mohaka river, overlooked by the legendary Te Waka peak. Just 5 mins off SH5, within easy reach of Taupo and Hawke's Bay, Mountain Valley is an accessible piece of wilderness New Zealand in which to relax, refresh and recharge, well away from the pressures of the busy world in which we live.
Our aim is to enrich the lives of all of our guests, whether that involves simply relaxing by the river, enjoying active adventures on the water or in the bush, or chilling out in our bar and restaurant.
As a rural retreat, Mountain Valley offers a real opportunity to reconnect with the natural world. We are surrounded by the legendary mountains of the Kawekas. The river is classified as one of only two remaining "wild and scenic" watercourses on the north island, and is a mecca for our river pursuits, including heritage, white water and multi day rafting, wilderness kayak adventures, and some of the best trout fishing in the world.
We also take great pride in offering some of the finest wilderness horse treks in the region.
As an adventure lodge, our goal is to provide a wide variety of active adventure pursuits for our guests. So, new for the 2009 season we offer you mountain biking, guided mountain walking in the Kaweka mountains, and Maori heritage safaris into the Hawke's bay hinterland. This is in addition to all the great hikes and tracks you can access independently within 45 minutes drive from Mountain Valley.
For those for whom our active adventures do not appeal, we offer 260 acres of rural tranquility in which to simply relax and enjoy the view!
Mountain Valley Booking and Cancellation Policy
Reservation & Cancellation Policy - Leisure & Tourism
Corporate and group conference bookings are subject to separate booking conditions supplied with confirmation of reservations
- To confirm a booking we require credit card details (Visa or Mastercard), valid at the time of your visit.
- Please ensure you inform us of any special dietary requirements for any restaurant bookings a minimum of 48 hours prior to arrival.
- Pets by arrangement prior to arrival only.
- Strictly no shooting.
- For safety and insurance reasons, ATV's and Motorbikes are not permitted.
- Prices include GST
- Wherever possible, you will receive via email, fax or mail, a confirmation for the numbers and services stipulated in your booking. Please see cancellation fees below for any reduction of numbers, or cancellation of the entire booking or part thereof.
Cancellation fees:
- Within 48 hours of arrival - 100% of fees if we are unable to on-sell
- No Show - 100% of fees due if unable to on-sell
- Postponement - please apply to us to waive fees
