The Heart and Soul of Mountain Valley
For us, our people are the lifeblood and the future of Mountain Valley Adventure Lodge & Camping Ground. In keeping with the spirit of Mountain Valley, our philosophy is to create an environment in which our team can develop and take on new challenges, thereby enriching their own lives.
All of our senior staff are local people, whose love of the country and the remarkable Hawkes Bay region of mountains, forests and rivers is always evident in their work.
They have a lifetime of experience on the Mohaka river, in the bush or on a horse, and bring richness to our adventurous activities through their stories of the local history, culture and legend, and it's flora and fauna.
All of our guides have relevant qualifications and/or experience to support their positions, and all of our key team have current first aid certificates.
Meet our team:
Doug Batt - Owner
Having left the corporate world behind Doug has acquired a passion for the Tourism industry having owned a Backpacker business in Napier for 7 years and now Mountain Valley. This good old Kiwi bloke only ever wanted a lawn that required a ride-on mower and now he is in his element with 280 acres!
Doug's message to you:
"Rediscover what's in your own backyard."
Julie Batt - Owner
Ditto Doug without the desire to mow lawns!! Julie's passion is about having a place that everyone can use for time out whether that means relaxing beside the river, experiencing an activity, team-building, bonding etc. Her desire is that MV will become the place that people say "We go there every year"
Julie's message to you:
"We have a venue suited to any occasion and any budget - let MV give you back your work/life balance."
Rosey Veint - Senior Horse Guide
Rosey has been a part of Mountain Valley for a couple of years and she is passionate about our horses, particularly their welfare and health.
Rosey's message to you:
"Take some time out in the great countryside or try something new. Either way it's a great place to visit."

Rachel takes care of all of the accommodation at Mountain Valley, keeping it clean, tidy and in order. She is also one of the 2 masterminds behind our hearty cuisine and loves spending time in the kitchen. She has been here for over a year now and the environment and people make this job the ideal one for her.
